| Kuwait Academy Blogger Awards |
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Blog-o-sphere, welcome to the First Annual Kuwait Academy Blogger Awards!(start clapping, ....NOW!!! - Purgatory added this part)
Yes people, we have been discussing this idea among ourselves and formed a mini Executive Committee consisting of NuNu, MissCosmoQ8, Purgatory and Stallion and have put together a list of categories and nominees for you to chose from.
Should this project succeed, we hope to take it to the next level and move it from Cyber World to the Real World with a gala dinner where winners receive awards for their blogger achievements.
To cast your votes, simply choose the ones you believe deserve it and forward an email with the heading "Annual Kuwait Academy Blogger Awards" with your nominations for each category to any of the Executive Committee Members listed below:

It's filled with new schoolers rather than the old-schoolers.. of the old school I recognize a few but it's not even fair to read MissCosmo or Nunu's names in the nominations!

We aren't bitter, its just not official and should nto be official, those who chose the contestants are clearly biased and do not have a familiar idea with the kuwaiti blogger-sphere! I mean seriously there are over 100 kuwaiti bloggers
And I see repetitive-ness of only a few, those who basically comment on their blogs! So it's a friend popularity contest!
If they say that I am bitter, then so be it!

the way a kuwait awards should take place on kuwait blogs where the voters nominate their favorite blogs and then the voting starts.

How come a member committie gets nominated?! it's about "Who nominates?" and "who gets nominated?"... so it's strange to nominate & to get nominated!

For all of you who do not read posts, there is an extra line in each catagory for your own choice. The names are there for guidance only and you are not mandated to vote for them.
The repeated mention of old school bloggers and the occasional hints that they are better than new bloggers is not accepted by the comittee.
If you decide not to vote and have your own system, be our guest, do your own version.

jacqui...so sorry to hear how you feel...please note that we did mention this was to be on a smaller scale as a test for a bigger one..and limited to those that we know...(whether old or new)...we purposely left each category with a blank in the event you wish to vote for someone else...so you might end up winning by those that add you to the list...
I hope that explains that..as for the Executive Committee members being part of the nominees...each one was nominated by the other member...not themselves...
Once the awards system succeeds and we are able to move it to a more official ceremony..the rules may change..we would most likely need a bigger committee should you be interested in helping us out with the rules...but for now...the committee feels it has the right to participate in the awards..
We come in peace dear and with your support we can fix any glitches for next time...I promise!

This was a good idea .. however with everything in life, there is space for improvement.
To create a 'fair' Kuwait-Blogger awards, you can start with the following:
1. All posts about said competition will be on Kuwaitblogs.com to remain unbiased.
2. Category/sections (similair to bloggies) will be created by a panel of judges.
3. Kuwait-based bloggers will send in their choices for whom is nominated in each section/category.
4. The top five (as voted in #3) will be listed.
5. A poll will be set up for all visitors (bloggers/non-bloggers) to vote on the final winner for each category.
My 0.02$, I am not really taking this seriously .. *vote me for sexy male blog*. As for Jackie/Tooomz/Rampurple .. they have the right to be mad, they were completely ignored and their blogs are (in my opinion) better than some of those listed. Because the initial choices were picked by a small group of people, personal preferance plays a big part.

On behalf of the organising group we thank for your comments.
Regarding the validity of these blog awards as official, unless someone can provide evidence that another competition have been registered and copyrighted for such an event, any concerns or comments are without merit.
If someone has aspirations to organise such an event, on a trial basis or on a real life basis, I challenge them to do something about it.
The names are used as a guide, you can choose anybody else including yourselves for all catagories if you wish. We will respect the rule of the majority.
The catagories are done this way based on feedback from the four member comittee. In the future, more catagories can be added.
Each person has one vote, meaning, when you send an email to us, you can only do it once, from an email one of the four members knows is associated with a blogger. Any attempts to fake identity or vote on behalf of other bloggers will be handled with proper procedures.
As for the questions from tooomz, All you do is write down the catagories and next to them your vote and thats it. You can send to one member or more members of the group. The group will gather at a later date to calculate the votes.
As advisor to the group, nominated to join by Misscosmo and Nunu, I stand by the choices and the format and I urge you to come with productive and constructive ideas and thoughts for management in order for us to evaluate and discuss in details prior to any party deciding to organise a real life event.

Tooomz, I do not expect all bloggers to vote, especially with many doubters already, but every vote and support to the comitte is helpful, so please vote.
You can vote from anywhere as long as you are:
1) a blogger
2) mention name of your blog
3) use the heading we advised for email
We can only accept only one vote per person because at the end we want to get a decision based on popular vote, not multiple votes for one person on a specific blog.
This whole process is in development, we expect many problems, but we will do our best to accomodate all your requests and adjust where needed for future.
Also, just because we organised this event, does not mean any future event would be organised by us four. We are just using this forum and ourselves as a test, to indicate to people the difficulties assosicated with organising this event, the complex nature of choice of bloggers, the criteria, the merits, etc. We finalized this post and agreed on it to evaluate bloggers views and responses and we intentionally left one blank line for all bloggers to choose anyone.

Judges shouldn't compete, I didn't expect this to be like this, whom ever this idea is, I think you made a huge mistake doing it this way....!!!

I as one of the Kuwaiti bloggers wanted something more than nominating friends and adressing them as the best of kuwaiti bloggers, this thing is unacceptable, although some are known and deserve to be nominated, the fact that you people were rushing things for some reason unknown to me, I don't get it, how can members of the commety vote for each other and still get the nerves to call it unbiesed....?!?!

I surely don't think this qualifies as being Kuwaiti represented blog award since it's only opoened to members of the Group, I knew that when doing such an event the results would be affected by the Mafia, but this is outstandingly ironic.....?!?!
anyhow, I will continue what I was doing, and with the help of others we should have a more represented "aknowledgement" to the Kuwaiti bloggers other than our freinds, or at least on a larger scale.....!!!

Anonymous, thanks for commenting. Anyone can vote as long as they have a blog address, with posts (more than 10).
MC, please send your selections to one of the four emails for the vote to be considered official.
Homer, as highlighted earlier, this is a trial, not official event. It is done to give people a perpestive on the obstacles and the multiple aspects involved in organizing such a event in real life.
The fact that the committee members know each other is not relavent for this vote, its just an experiment, which can be duplicated by any other group, using a different formula and different criteria, again, its just a trial.
For people who are not aware of all blogs, safat is source for the majority of the blogs. We know that each group of blogs has its own readers, and some do not know of the existence of others, which makes it more complex to evaluate all, and the timing was not suitable to do so. However, should there be a real event, many of these obstacles and comments should be taken into consideration by the organizing comittee, which might involve the 3 members and myself, and could consist of more bloggers or another set of bloggers.
Thank you for your comments and hopefully this experiment helps anyone interested in organising such an event in the future.
