Toastmasters

Just to change the subject a little, last night Purg and I went to one of the local Toastmaster meet ups after being invited by the one and only Jacqui! When we got there we found Missundaztoood and Fractal00! I was also happy to see Your Battlefield for the first time!

I met a lot of courageous people who are not afraid of doing something that will make them become great role models and good Ambassadors for the Kuwaiti society!

The meeting had a President, which was non other than our
Swair! She did a great job organizing everything and I don't care if she started a minute late! :oP

I watched people stand up on stage and make up a short piece around a specific word and they were evaluated on it! Looking at the people made me very proud of them and when they asked for a guest to stand up and have a go at what's being done I, to be totally honest, reluctantly got up and participated! I had to use the word "cheap" as many times as I could in a 2 minute time frame in front of a room full of strangers! I was extremely nervous and I had the shakes but I did manage to say the small piece I made up on the spot trying to incorporate the word "cheap" as much as possible! That was a tad challenging but lots of fun!

I would like to take this time to thank every member of the Toastmaster club and wish them all the best! I'm actually thinking of joining the club myself! There's nothing wrong with a little improvement! ;o)

Yay, See Swair MY GUESTS Had fun! :P Bowahhahaha I'm yanking your chain.

Anyways Stallion, I'm glad you had fun! I hope to see you at our next meetings, hopefully our first meeting in June you'll come by and check out I think Swair's Table Topics :P Since she rocks at those :P I do rock as well ;p

I hope to see Mar up there sometime as well :P I'm sorry I didn't vote for you :P It's because I voted for my sibling LOL! I had to support her LOL :P

But I'm glad you enjoyed yourself :P Next time drag along more of Edo Pride :P

It's a shame I don't like Sushi or Japanese food, well not don't like, but I never tried it and I am reluctant to trying new foods, so yeah it's a shame, since our next meeting we'll probably have an open-dinner thingy. Had it been Sushi then I guess you guys would have been the first to be there.

Amer: Sorry, but the only pics I took were those 2!

Jacqui: Voting should go to who's better and not siblings or who you know! :oP I voted for the winner! :oP
As for bringing people, especially from the EDO PRIDE group, you'd have to supply an ample amount of EDO PRIDE sushi! ;o)
Inshallah you will see me again!

Your Battlefield: Finally! ;o) I'm going to take my time in making a decision to be honest but most signs point at paying the due and being a member! Sure was nice to put a face to the blog!

Miyafushi: LOL! I will not disclose that! :oP

can you pls explain what is toastmaster club and what do they do?

Mosan Mosan: It's a club where people are taught communication skills! How? The teach people how to write things and be gramatically correct as well as teaches them how to present their papers by giving an oral presentation! Each person who participates is evaluated and the learning is based on a group effort! there is also a table top session which is where the person has to make up a small speech (2 minute time limit) around a specific word!

Mosan Mosan, What Stallion said is correct, however to give you a more official meaning of the club and such, it would be:

Toastmasters is a non-profit organization which helps you enhance many skills. The skills it focuses on the following in this exact order: Listening, Thinking, and Speaking. So in general it's not only a public speaking club.

There are a few clubs available, the one Swair and I belong to is called the "Al-Koot" Toastmasters club for members who prefer to speak in English and are from 18 yrs old and above.

The meetings take place every first and third monday of the month and if a month has a fifth monday then we get to have an open gathering. What you can do though is come to our meetings as a guest, observe and see how it is. And if you decide to become a member, I would be happy to point you in the direction of some membership forms.

So again, I'm glad that many are finding an interest in Toastmasters! It's a great club to belong to.

Of course, I want to take credit for those who become members :P So I get more points than Swair :P

Fractal00: Thanks for the kind words! When it comes to timing, you sure need to improve a little, but it's all good though! ;oP As for getting on stage, you might get nervous at first but then you'd enjoy it!
